The Uganda martyr’s shrine Namugongo is a catholic based parish and shrine in Kampala Arch diocese dedicated to our lady queen of martyrs.
It was put in place in respect of the martyrs of Uganda by the mill hill missionaries in 1935, 49 years after the Namugongo massacre of all those who were killed under the orders of Kabaka Mwanga of Buganda for having refused to change from Christianity.
The shrine is on a 26 hectares of land which is also used for mass, recollection, seminars, retreats, spiritual meditations and all the other religion related events.
The shrine is also located near a school, medical center, congregation houses, retreat center, and residential houses of the local citizens.
At the shrine there are a number of catholic priests who are ready to help the pilgrims spiritually on a daily basis and the offices at the shrine are open from 8:30am – 5:00pm EAT from Monday to Friday.
This shrine is open to every person who is interested in knowing all about the martyrs of Uganda.
